Community Host Partners

Are you affiliated with a local nonprofit organization or government agency that would be interested in hosting two or more Fellows for the academic year?

If you have any questions or would like to get connected, please message collegecorps@ucsd.edu with a brief description of the primary activity or project that you would like College Corps at UC San Diego to support.

Current partners include: 

Commitments for Community Host Partners (Primary Site)

  • Host at least two Fellows for the full academic year.
  • Designate a site supervisor with the time, motivation and skills to supervise and mentor Fellows.
  • Develop meaningful projects that will build Fellow’s skills and provide interaction with the community for at least 51% of their service time. 
  • Monitor Fellows projects to ensure that administrative or research-based tasks do not exceed 49% and fundraising does not exceed 10% of total time.
  • Offer a regular schedule of at least 12-15 service hours a week PER Fellow placed at the site.
  • Be flexible and adjust service hours as needed when Fellow schedules shift by quarter and respect that they are students first.
  • Join a regular check-in with program staff and flag any attendance or performance issues via email in between those regular check-ins.
  • Provide a location that Fellows can get to easily, give clear instructions on how to get to that location, and provide that location to the program for liability purposes.
  • Participate in all College Corps training, for example community partner onboarding, America Learns supervisor training, mentoring diverse students, etc.
  • Consistently review and approve Fellow hours in America Learns every other week.
  • Read through and abide by AmeriCorps prohibited and unallowable activities.
  • In the event that you have concerns about the Fellow’s behavior or professionalism, participate in restorative meetings to discuss the Fellows progress and development.
  • Collect data on College Corps Fellows’ impacts and report to UC San Diego staff quarterly.

Commitments for Community Host Partners (Secondary Site)

  • Host a Fellow(s) for a longer-term placement ranging from 1 quarter to the full academic year.
  • Designate a site supervisor with the time, motivation and skills to supervise and mentor Fellows.
  • Provide interaction with the community for at least 51% of their service time. 
  • Monitor Fellows projects to ensure that administrative or research-based tasks do not exceed 49% and fundraising does not exceed 10% of total time.
  • Offer a regular schedule of at least about 4-10 service hours a week PER Fellow placed at the site.
  • Be flexible and adjust service hours as needed when Fellow schedules shift by quarter and respect that they are students first.
  • Join a regular check-in with program staff and flag any attendance or performance issues via email in between those regular check-ins.
  • Provide a location that Fellows can get to easily, give clear instructions on how to get to that location, and provide that location to the program for liability purposes.
